Vehicle Barrier Protection

Defencell Force Protection Systems are an effective, extensively-tested anti-ram barrier designed for perimeter security, airport protection, and delayed entry traffic control points.

Defencell anti-ram barriers have been successfully vehicle impact tested to meet U.S. Department of State's K12 (DoS-K12/M50) and European (PAS68) crash test certification standards and can effectively defend against vehicles weighing up to 15,000 lbs.

Defencell anti-ram barriers are 100% geotextile-based, mitigating the secondary fragmentation threat associated with wire-mesh barriers. A stacked Defencell vehicle barrier is designed to maximize energy absorption upon vehicle impact. The result is a destroyed, disabled vehicle with minimal risk of follow-up attacks.

Versus VBIEDs

Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices, also known as VBIEDs, are a constant threat to expeditionary forces. Defencell vehicle barriers go beyond traditional bollards and anti-ram barriers by absorbing both the vehicular impact and any fragmentation caused by on-board explosives.

The following guide outlines the number of Defencell vehicle barriers required to defend against vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tons. This data is assuming the vehicle is traveling up to 50mph upon impact.

K12 Crash Test

Defencell was awarded the U.S. Department of State’s K12 vehicle crash test rating. To achieve K12 status, an anti-ram barrier must be able to withstand a 50 mph impact with a 15,000 lbs. vehicle without the bed of the truck penetrating 1m beyond the rear of the barrier. Defencell crash barriers stopped the truck 3.2 meters sooner than the minimum acceptable stopping distance for K-12 vehicle barrier certification.
