During an explosion, there is a greater risk of being injured by projectiles and secondary fragmentation than the actual blast.

Even a simple improvised explosive device (IED) can exert massive forces on surrounding walls and structures, potentially dispersing lethal projectiles at supersonic velocities.

To minimize secondary fragmentation threats, Defencell™ has developed a fabric blast mitigation system that uses no metal or plastic parts.

These unique bomb blast protection walls assemble quickly using locally available granular fill (sand, gravel, and small rocks), and can effectively protect against small arms, cannon, mortar, artillery, VBIEDs, and other fragmenting weapons.

Defencell’s advanced blast mitigation properties come from its cell-based geotextile fabric design. Blast energy is dissipated across the length of the fabric, absorbing fragmentation and ballistics damage.

Defencell bomb blast protection walls have been extensively tested against the most common threats -- primarily stand-off weapons with a TNT Net Explosive Quantity (NEQ) up to 15 Kg and shaped charge weapons up to 2 Kg NEQ.
