Airport perimeter security requirements changed significantly after September 11th, especially in the United States. Airport security designers began searching for solutions to meet these new requirements, with most turning to barbed wire fences, cyclone fences, and concrete barriers. Unfortunately, barbed wire fences are easily bypassed by vehicles and concrete barriers can be costly to implement en masse.
Defencell Force Protection Systems are low-cost, aesthetically pleasing airport security barriers that can be implemented using locally available resources and minimum logistical requirements. Defencell can be placed virtually anywhere, eliminating the need for costly retrofitting of runways and terminals. Because Defencell consists primarily of earth fill, it can be easily disassembled if design requirements dictate.
The fill process is simple; Pull the product into shape, position as needed, and fill with material (sand, gravel, or rocks). The 100% Geotextile cellular protection system can withstand ballistics and fragmenting weapons, and can be stacked to stop runaway vehicles traveling at high speeds. Our U.S. Department of State K12 certification ensures that Defencell can halt vehicular threats weighing up to 15 tons.
