Forward Area Refueling Point
Sometimes referred to as rapid refueling points, Forward Area Refueling Points (FARPs) provide tactical rearming and refueling of aviation maneuver units. Expeditionary FARPs are absolutely critical for long range attack, air assault, and support aviation units, making them a high-priority target for enemy small arms and heavy ballistic attacks.
Defencell™ Force Protection Systems are highly versatile ballistic barriers and can be configured to protect multiple 20,000 gallon fuel bladders or 2,200 gallon trucks. Defencell units' light weight and logistical advantages allow aviation commanders to quickly construct FARP defensive perimeters using locally available granular fill (sand, rocks, or gravel).
Unlike earth berms, which can deteriorate and loosen from constant exposure to high speed winds and helicopter downdrafts, Defencell walls' fill is compactable for increased structural integrity. Defencell is also stackable -- allowing construction of high wall heights with a smaller footprint than comparable earth berms.
In addition to perimeter security, Defencell systems are combat-certified for use in the construction of FARP defensive fighting positions and ammunition holding pits. Defencell barriers provide rapid hardening of M240 machine gun encampments, sling load areas, and decontamination sites that are often part of forward area refueling points.
