DC3 Force Protection System
The Defencell™ DC3 Force Protection System was engineered to defend against artillery, mortars, and other heavy fragmenting weapons. The DC3 features 48 cells in an offset, three cell-wide honeycomb pattern with a protective width of 63 inches when filled.
The 16 foot long, 1.5 foot tall wall can be stacked up to four units high to build a variety of temporary or permanent forward operating base fortifications. The DC3 has a capacity of 4.7 cubic meters, and is fillable using local granular fill such as sand, gravel, dirt, or small rocks.
The increased thickness of the DC3 unit provides an additional layer of protection against blasting weapons. The geotextile fabric dissipates the blast across the length of the wall, minimizing the risk of the blast area extending beyond the outer layer. The DC3 has been tested to protect against small arms and cannons, direct mortar hits, and near-miss rockets.
DC3 units are fully modular and can be combined with DC1, DC2, and DC4 units to form anti-ram barriers, personnel and equipment protection, and vehicle access control points. Both the DC3 and DC4 units have been certified by the US Department of State as K12/M50 crash barriers.
The DC3 requires minimal preparation to deploy and is designed to conform to sloped or uneven surfaces. Units can be filled by hand and compacted by foot in just a few minutes.
